If you import a vehicle, then it needs to be certified to ensure it complies with NZ road safety standards and is safe to drive on our roads.
If you’re thinking about importing a vehicle independently, please check with us early on for advice on your vehicle’s suitability for NZ roads. If your vehicle doesn’t meet the standards on arrival, it may be too late to do anything about it.

Once your vehicle has been certified, it is issued with a Warrant of Fitness (WoF) and you can then register the vehicle to drive on our roads.
