Making Driving Safer – Annette Williams
Annette says, “The most important thing I have learnt while working at VINZ is how important it is to keep your vehicle safe by maintaining your service requirements".
Annette Williams is one of our front of house superstars! Annette is a passionate Customer Services Officers at our new VINZ Rolleston Testing Station, 25km south of Christchurch.
Originally from Palmerston North, Annette says “I started my Customer Service career working part-time at Hannah’s Shoe Store, while I was still at school. I really enjoyed interacting with customers and helping them find what they were looking for, and watching customers leave satisfied”.
This was the start of Annette’s journey in the Customer Service environment. After moving to Christchurch in 1996, Annette spent the next 20 years working in the outdoors industry as a Retail Manager and Sales Representative. Whilst travelling around the South Island, attending sporting events, Annette realised the importance of travelling in a safe vehicle “After spending a lot of time travelling around, I realised the importance of maintaining my vehicle and doing regular services, to make sure the vehicle was roadworthy”.
“In 2017 it was time for a change, and to spend more time with my family, I saw a position become available with VINZ at their Christchurch Airport Branch. This was completely different to what I was used to, however, I always love a challenge” says Annette.
Annette has been with the team at VINZ for four years now, and has recently transferred to the VINZ Rolleston Testing Station, our Flagship Branch in Rolleston, “which is a little closer to home” says Annette.
Since starting with VINZ, and not knowing anything about this Industry, Annette says “I’ve learned a lot, from the range of services, that we offer, to observing the professional manner in which the inspectors deal with customers. My role involves everything from maintaining front of house, providing customer service to onsite customers, as well as, over the phone. Compiling Light and Heavy Vehicle Compliance paperwork and Motor Vehicle Registrations. In this role you need to be flexible as no two day is days are the same” says Annette.
Annette says, “The most important thing I have learnt while working at VINZ is how important it is to keep your vehicle safe by maintaining your service requirements. “Working for the VINZ team has been an adventure, I love the team environment and how everyone looks out for each other, we are just one big family”.
