Say hello to VINZ Vehicle Inspector, Ravi Prasad, who is based at our newest state-of-the-art Testing Station, in Rolleston, Canterbury.<\/p>\n
Originally from Fiji – a small island called Bulileka in Labasa, Fiji (also known as the Friendly North), Ravi completed his Trade Certificate at the Fiji Institute of Technology (FIT) in Light Motor Vehicle in 1999.<\/p>\n
Ravi moved to New Zealand with his wife in 2007 and settled into the Kiwi way of life in Auckland. Ravi says \u201cMy first job in New Zealand was with Buckland Trucks, where I was a Heavy Diesel Mechanic. I learnt a lot in this role and completed my Heavy Compliance Certificate\u201d.<\/p>\n
In 2013 Ravi moved to Christchurch and worked for Truckstops. A few years later in 2017, he joined VINZ in Timaru, as a Vehicle Inspector.\u00a0 Ravi\u2019s role was split between Timaru and Christchurch, \u201cThis was a big sacrifice to me personally, as I was away from my family\u201d.<\/p>\n
Ravi is now based in our Rolleston Testing Station, and recently completed his CoFA training and is working towards completing his CoFB Certificate. \u201cMy professional development is important to me.\u201d says Ravi. \u201cAs a Vehicle Inspector, I have a duty to ensure the vehicles I inspect are safe for people to drive, whether it be at home or anywhere in the world\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe everyone should be driving a safe vehicle, and I often think about what else I can do, as a Vehicle Inspector, to keep people safe on the road\u201d says Ravi.<\/p>\n
Ravi also mentions that \u201cFor every vehicle I inspect, I ensure enough time is given for the inspection, and that our customers are aware why the checks are done on their vehicle, to increase their knowledge\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI enjoy working for VINZ, as the company values safety and are supportive of my personal and career development. Safety is very important to me as I have a young family, who also need to be safe on the road \u2013 especially during the Christmas and New Year period when there is increased traffic.\u201d says Ravi.<\/p>\n
