VINZ calls for personal vehicle owners to act now, as overdue WoF inspections hit a whopping 280,000 vehicles!

Sean Stevens, CEO for Vehicle Inspection New Zealand (VINZ), says “Vehicle owners must keep safety top of mind as we move into the Easter and School Holiday breaks. I ask you to think about your own safety on the road and the safety of others these holidays”.

Due to the COVID-19 Level 4 April 2020 lockdown, we are expecting longer wait times at our Testing Stations, during the months of May, June, and July.

If your WoF is due, or is coming up for renewal, we advise you to get your vehicle inspected early, by a qualified VINZ vehicle inspector to beat the queues and avoid delays.

If you notice something is wrong with your vehicle, please don’t delay as this may cause unnecessary repair work in the long-term.  There are things you can check for, before you bring your vehicle into a VINZ Testing Station, such as, lights, wipers, and tyre tread.

“We know customers are struggling, due to the effects of COVID-19, we have been in contact with Work and Income New Zealand, they have advised us, that there is financial support for customers if they need it”, says Sean Stevens.

Waka Kotahi (NZTA) and the New Zealand Police have advised that they will be targeting unwarranted vehicles. So, the message is simple “Act now, keep our roads safe and avoid unnecessary fines and delays to servicing your vehicle” says Sean Stevens.

All VINZ Vehicle Testing Stations have a drop-in service for WoF inspections. Check our website for all our location details here: https://vinz.co.nz/vehicle-testing-stations/
